is 500 yards in Lake Springfield at the Lindsay Bridge Boat
ramp.

is 12 miles on gently rolling and flat prairie.

COURSE INFORMATION
Race registration and packet pickup take
place at Lake Springfield Beach House located near Lindsay Bridge, on the south side of Springfield Illinois. The finish line is in front of the Beach
House. The race is chip timed.
TRANSITION
AREA
The transition area is located at the
Lindsay Bridge Boat ramp. Racers are body marked at the entrance to the
transition area. Timing chips are
picked up at the entrance to the transition area. Only racers are permitted in the
transition area. Racers are to
affix their bike to the bike racks based on their race number. All racers are
assigned a space on the bike rack according to their race number. NO BIKE RIDING IN THE TRANSITION AREA.
The bike exit and run exit will be marked with signs. Bike numbers will be
matched with run numbers as they exit the transition area. Water and Gatorade
are available outside of the transition area. Bike support is available at the
transition area.
SWIM
COURSE ( 500 YARDS)
The swim takes place in Lake Springfield. Swim caps are mandatory and
are found in race packet. Swim waves are organized by cap color.
Each swimmer swims 500 yards total in a
counter-clockwise out and back course keeping the buoys on your left. Waves commence every three minutes. Swimmers exit the Lake and proceed 40 yards east to the transition area.
Athletes may rest on boats without
disqualification. Wet suits will be allowed per USA Triathlon rules. Lake water temperature will be posted on the web site.
Lifeguards will positioned in boats along the swim course.
BIKE
COURSE ( 12 MILES)
The bike course is flat and fast on gently
rolling prairie. All athletes must attach the bike number to their bike and
place their helmet number on the front of their helmet. The bike ride starts as
the racer exits the transition area with helmet fastened.
Stoneman Sprint course signs are yellow and
are on pavement as well as on signs posted on the road course. Mileage markers
are posted at mile 5 and 10.
The course is out and back and starts with
a right turn onto Long Bay
Lane heading east. Bikers turn right on East Lake
Shore Drive heading south and then turn left heading south on Pawnee Road. Bikers proceed to the turnaround
turning counter-clock wise at the cone in the center of the road. Athletes
return the same route. One water station is on the bike course after the
turnaround.
The bike course is open to the public so
riders must stay on their right. Volunteers and police will be monitoring the
course. Drafting is not allowed. Bikers complete their ride and enter the
transition to return their bike their position in the bike racks. NO BIKE RIDING
IN THE TRANSITION AREA. The
racer exits the transition area to start the run portion of the
race.
RUN COURSE
( 3 miles)
Run number must be worn at all times on the
course. Run number must be placed
on the front of the runner.
The run starts as the racer exits the
transition area and proceeds left onto Long Bay Lane heading west over the
Lindsay Bridge. Runners bear left over the bridge and follow the signs for the
turnaround on West Lake Shore
Drive. Runners follow the signs posted on West Lake Shore. After the second run turnaround,
runners head east going over Lindsay Bridge. Runners turn left at the end of
the bridge and proceed toward the finish line in front of the Lake Springfield
Beach House.

are found on the pavement as well as posted on signs on the road course. Mileage
markers are found each mile along the course.
Six water stations are on the course with
water, Gatorade and ice.
CUT OFF
TIME
Athletes will not be allowed on the run
course if they finish the bike ride after 10:30 am.
RACE START
TIME
The start time may vary based on
water/weather conditions. The Event director may alter or cancel the swim course
at any time based on safety, weather or unforeseen
circumstances.
TRAVEL AND LODGING INFORMATION
Directions
from I-55
Take exit 90 (Toronto Rd) off I-55. Proceed east on Toronto Rd about one
mile and then turn right on West
Lake Shore Drive. Follow West Lake Shore
Drive heading east toward the Lindsay Bridge and the Lake Springfield Beach
House. The race headquarters is at the Lake Springfield Beach House and the
transition area is at the Lindsay Bridge Boat Ramp.
